Bovada is essentially a one stop shop for all your gambling needs. In addition to the casino that we’ll be exploring in particular depth today, Bovada also boasts a pretty impressive sportsbook and racebook (horse racing, to be specific). Just like most one stop shops, Bovada has amassed an impressive membership throughout its history. With alleged billions of sportsbook bets and a trillion rounds played on a single blackjack game, we’re excited to see what all the hype is about.

We totally get the hype, too. Bovada has a very nice image going for it. It seems to really nail the balance between traditional and innovative. On one hand, you can expect what Bovada calls a Vegas-style casino – which let’s be honest, is a pretty easy term to fall back on because it assures people that they can expect quality in a familiar package. On the other hand, Bovada has taken pretty nifty risks from time to time. It claims to be, for example, the first major casino to offer Bitcoin as a currency. How does the above translate when turning to the Bovada mobile site, which will be the main focal point of this review? Is Bovada as sturdy as it professes to be on portable devices, or will we be underwhelmed? Let’s find out!

Signing up for an account on Bovada’s Mobile Casino site

Before you create an account, you need to access the Bovada mobile site, of course. Mobile players should keep in mind that there’s no Bovada mobile app per se. You’ll have to visit the website by typing the URL directly in your mobile’s search bar. Despite the lack of an app, the bovada mobile site is optimised pretty well for mobile and navigation is as smooth as you could want it to be. Whenever you enter an online casino website, you’ll usually find the registration buttons colourfully displayed at the top of the homepage, and this tradition has seeped its way into the mobile versions of these casinos. The Bovada mobile site is no different in this regard. The ‘Join Now’ button is easy to spot, and the registration process that follows is pretty seamless, too. By the way, if English isn’t your mother tongue and you want to create your account in a different language, options are bit limited as the only other languages available are Spanish and Portuguese. One thing that we found really commendable is that as you hit the ‘Join Now’ button, the casino will pick up on your location and notify you if your country isn’t eligible to sign up with the casino. We tried this a few times by inserting different locations. While you might be disappointed if you find you can’t sign up with Bovada, it’s at least reassuring that this casino isn’t out to waste your time. Keep in mind that like most online casinos, you’ll have to verify your identity by providing a credit card verification form, a copy of your ID, and copies of the credit card you use at Bovada.

Bonus offers, points and more free stuff at Bovada Mobile Casino

You would expect that a website as big as Bovada would have a welcome bonus that reflects the bigness, and you’d definitely be right, as the welcome bonus package can earn you thousands of dollars in bonus money if you see it through properly. It’s a pretty unique setup: there are two different match bonuses, so the bonus is technically split into two. However, you get to use each bonus code up to 4 times. The full bonus, then, is effectively awarded over eight deposits. There are quite a few other bonuses to look forward to at Bovada. Some of them, like the refer-a-friend bonus, are general promotions that you can receive regardless of what your main activities on the website are. Other promotions are specific to either the casino, sportsbook, and racebook. The casino bonuses are, of course, are major point of concern, and we have to admit they’re a bit hit or miss. Take, for example, the mobile casino bonus, which we were initially really excited about considering that we’re checking out the mobile experience in this review. A mobile specific bonus is a great way to get people interested in the mobile market. Yet, the actual bonus amount is far too small compared to what you’re expected to deposit. On the bright side, the loyalty points scheme is pretty standard. The points you earn vary depending on the type of game you’re playing, but the exchange rate is that of $1 per 100 points.

Step into the Red Room, though it’s not what you think!

We originally couldn’t figure out where the VIP information was, but then we came across a page entitled ‘Red Room’. Except for the slightly odd name, there’s nothing about the VIP program here that is unique. That’s not to say it’s bad, of course. VIPs here can look forward to a vast array of goodies from exclusive promotions, invitations to real-world events, and more. As for tournaments, it doesn’t seem that they’re offered in abundance at Bovada. To be fair, it’s not something we expected to find as we imagined the sportsbook and racebook aspects of the website would scratch the competitive edge of the members here, and then some.

Play on your smartphone with Bovada Mobile

There’s a lot to say about Bovada’s casino games. A lot of it is good, but not everything is favourable – so hold on tight. Perhaps, it’s apt to start with the good. Some things, Bovada definitely gets right. One of those things is that people can try out the games even when logged out of the casino. Free play is a very crucial way of evaluating a casino, but some casinos make the mistake of insisting that people sign into their accounts if they want to browse the mobile website at all. That’s an approach we find somewhat problematic, so we’re glad that Bovada is so accommodating in this regard. Secondly, it’s clear that the games are well optimised for mobile. Graphics are consistently clear, and what’s more is that mobile users are asked to rotate their screens so that the best experience can be had. It’s obvious that Bovada are working with people who know exactly what to look out for when it comes to mobile games, and we applaud that. Thirdly, the games themselves are high quality. Mostly provided by Rival software, there’s a pretty decent range of slots and table games here. It’s not the largest collection of games we’ve come across – probably a result of the casino being nestled in between a sportsbook and racebook – but there are still enough titles to keep you entertained. What’s more, there’s everything here from games with a super classic feel, like Five Times Win, to more modern slots like Golden Gorilla and A Night with Cleo (Cleopatra, get it?). The same is true of the table games. Members get everything here from American Roulette to slightly less conventional games like Tri-Card Poker. Blackjack seems to be the crowning jewel of the table games selection, and there’s considerable variety here, too. Now, one thing that we definitely picked up on – and this is true of all the games at the casino – is that the graphics, though good, are pretty simple. We don’t think this should be a deterrent. It’s not a reflection of poor quality. It’s simply the style of the casino games, and we dig it. We’re happy knowing that the games are simple but excited, as opposed to flashy and lacking substance. Here’s the one thing that bugged though, and it’s not necessarily a small issue any way you look at it. The testing process was carried out on a very high quality phone that had a strong Wi-Fi connection, yet lag was often experienced when it came to loading the games (once it came to playing the games, the speed was absolutely fine). Sometimes the games did not load at all, and simply redirected to the lobby. We can’t understand it. However, this wasn’t a pressing issue most of the time.

Bovada Mobile has standard customer support, but no live chat yet

There’s not too much to say about Bovada’s customer support other than it’s your average, 24/7 run-of-the-mill customer support. That is, with the exception of the fact that live chatting options do not seem to be available. That’s slightly disappointing considering how standard live chat has become as support service. So we guess walk-of-the-mill might be the better phrase to use here. There’s also a FAQ section, that is comprehensive enough, but not as comprehensive as some FAQ sections we’ve found on other casinos.

Pay with Bitcoin and all major banking methods

In the introduction of this review, we mentioned that Bovada offers bitcoin as a currency. It runs a little bit deeper than that, though, as this casino actually really recommends that members give Bitcoin, their proclaimed cheapest option, a go. We can’t say we blame them, as the benefits definitely seem to be there. When making a withdrawal with Bitcoin, for example, the process can take a mere 15 minutes, while a withdrawal through Check by Courier can take a whopping 10-15 business days. Similarly, Using VISA/MasterCard lets you deposit up to $1000, while you can deposit up to $5000 using Bitcoin. Let’s say you’re not ready to take plunge into the world of bitcoin, though. What other options are available? A variety of credit cards. That’s usually enough for most people, but we think it’s a bit odd that other methods, like e-wallets, have been disregarded for banking at Bovada. Still, there’s plenty to praise here. Something which we found really great is that Bovada has a scheme in which it covers the fees for your first withdrawal every single month.

Is Bovada Mobile Casino worth your time?

When all has been said and done, should you bother with Bovada? We’re going with a strong ‘maybe’. The thing is this: we reckon that Bovada could be an excellent option for anyone looking for an all-in-one gambling facility on the go. If you’re into sports betting as much as you are into slots games, then Bovada really is worth checking out. However, if you’re exclusive a casino enthusiast, we found that there were too many limitations to recommend it as a standalone casino. It seems that for everything we liked about Bovada, there was something that put us off a bit. The games are fun, but the load time lag is annoying. Banking is efficient, but the options are somewhat limited. The welcome bonus is great, but not many of the other promotions are. The list goes on. As for the mobile experience, in itself, there’s not much we can fault about it. The navigation is pretty smooth and certain aspects about it definitely got Bovada brownie points, such as the fact that you can try out games for free on mobile too. All in all, you might find that Bovada is exactly what you’re looking for if you’re a gambler with a multi-track mind.
