New Jersey’s Internet Gambling Bill

New Jersey is only one signature removed from legalized online gambling. As an “Intrastate Internet Gambling Bill” recently passed both of New Jersey’s legislative houses, only the Governor’s signature is needed for the bill to go into effect.

Economic Development Study

The study released by the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA), and carried out by a public policy and economics consulting firm, estimated the short and long term effects of legalization.

Long-term Effects

According to the study the estimated long-term effects of legalized online gambling are the creation of 57,000 new jobs and $472 million flowing to the New Jersey Treasury. The online gambling industry will create lots of high-tech jobs, and will attract foreign investors.

Short-term Effects

In the short run legalizing online casino gambling and online poker will result in a gross turnover of $210 to $250 million, and the creation of an estimated 2,000 new jobs in the Atlantic City Casino area.
