Casino Sucker Bets to Avoid
They say a sucker is born every minute. You don't want to be that sucker; especially if you're going to the casino. That would be a recipe for disaster. When gambling use your old noggin and don't be that sucker.
Here are some tips to help a player avoid making sucker bets.
Avoid Side-bets
Know the game that you're playing and play the game. Don't be lured into gimmicky side bets. When playing Blackjack don't take the "insurance" Avoid the so called "crapless craps" game. Or the side-bet in Caribbean Stud Poker.
These gimmicks are mathematically proven to give the house more of an edge. It's like a car dealer trying to up sell you that one extra thing that you just don't need.
Don't be Greedy
Know the odds and play the odds. A player should be intimately familiar with the odds in whatever game they are playing. Then, they should think about these odds and decide what would give them the best chance to win.
At the Roulette table, don't play direct numbers and ask yourself why you didn't win. The odds were 35 to 1 against a player winning.
If playing Craps, maybe it's not such a good idea to keep betting that a 6-6 12 will roll, or a 5-6 11, or a 1-1 snake eyes. So what if the odds are high? There's a reason the odds are high.
Don't double down and split every hand in Blackjack just because you can.
In the Sportsbook stay away from Parlays and Teasers. They're sucker bets. A bookie or a casino would take those bets all day long. It's hard enough to win one game, why complicate the situation by having to win two or three or four.
Don't be a sucker
Don't give the casino more of an advantage then they already have. It's almost common sense but for some reason it sometimes gets forgotten in the decadence of the casino environment.
In other words, when wagering keep it together. Don't get overly intoxicated and make bad decisions. There is a reason why land casinos give away free drinks. Keep a level head. Don't get too excited or agitated. Play smart. Play to win. Walk away when up.
Be aware! When you walk out that door with full pockets who will be calling who a sucker.
