Unfortunately as of September, 2010 ePassporte stopped offering its services.
For years ePassporte was a successful and popular payment method that was heavily used by online gamblers. ePassporte had a successful collaboration with major credit card company Visa. Customers of ePassporte could use it as an e-Wallet to transfer funds and make online purchases, but also use their Visa Virtual or Visa Electron card to withdraw funds at ATMs and global points of sale.
ePassport’s Glory Days
For a number of years ePassporte offered its services to online gamblers from around the world, including US players. There were many ePassporte casinos and more and more satisfied customers were using this payment option. The success behind ePassporte lay in its collaboration with Visa. This collaboration enabled ePassporte customers to make online payments and live purchases (with their Visa cards) using one online banking account.
End of Visa Collaboration
In the beginning of September, 2010 Visa International suddenly announced the end if its collaboration with ePassporte. The reason for this were the problems Visa experienced with the bank that ePassporte used, the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank. From one day to the next ePassporte customers could no longer use their Visa cards to withdraw money and make purchases. The biggest advantage of ePassporte had disappeared, and so did the customers.
Up until today the ePassporte website still displays a message dated October 20th, 2010 explaining how former customers can reclaim their funds. If you are one of the unlucky, check it out and get your money back. Otherwise, take a look at our overview of payment options and quickly find a payment method that suits your personal needs.
