- Legendary Gambler, Archie Karas, Heads to Jail
Archie Karas is a Las Vegas legend after going on a win streak that lasted from 1992 till 1995, a run that netted him just over $40 million. But, Karas has hit on hard times and his new lodgings are a far cry from the multimillion-dollar mansion he was used to. Karas is currently awaiting extradition in the Clark County Detention Center and will stand trial in California for using marked cards during a game at the Barona Casino in California.
- New Jersey: Online Gambling Mecca?
2013 was a good year for Atlantic City despite its continued drop in revenue and visitors. A bill was passed in the New Jersey legislature that legalized online gambling within the state’s borders. This meant that anybody within the state’s borders was allowed to play online casino games and it also meant that online casinos, as long as they were partnered with an Atlantic City casino, could offer online gambling to their customers. This turned out to be a massive boost for the city’s failing economy and has allowed some of the casinos to see profits for the first time in many years.

2013 was also the year that UltimatePoker made its return to the US after the fateful Black Friday raids that saw numerous high profile online gambling bosses be indicted by the US Government. Nevada and New Jersey were amongst the first to seek clarification of the Wire Act that saw forced the State Department to relook its laws against online gambling.
