Aminah is a hotelier turned journalist with 5 years experience in the Media industry who has recently returned to India after six and a half years in the UK, to explore career opportunities on home turf while compiling a poetry collection which she hopes to publish next year, and studying Stock Market Trading.
Since graduating from the University of Sheffield with an MA in Broadcast Journalism she has worked for a number of high end publications and channels. Most recently, she recently completed a 3 year term at Trinity Mirror Plc, one of the largest newspaper publishers and distributors in the UK.
During her time there she held the position of Editor, for their specialist job sites and property sites (which were sold to Zoopla in 2013) as well as a monthly careers supplement published in the Wharf newspaper. She was also responsible for spearheading the Social Media strategy for Trinity Mirror Digital Classifieds, setting new records for traffic and lead-gen figures across the portfolio. Her passion and dexterity for social media has been pivotal for implementing a company wide social media strategy and policy. She was also invited to sit on the expert panel at the CIPD Social Media HR Conference in 2013 and was a judge for SecsintheCity Social Networking PA of the Year 2012 and 2013. She was often referred to as ‘The networker’ for her role in building relationships with key industry partners.
Prior to that she worked for Groupon UK & IE (Forbe’s fastest growing business of 2010), where she Championed key online communications. She simultaneously undertook journalism assignments which included assisting with a BBC Panorama documentary and hosting a weekly radio show at a station in Berkshire.
Her journalism experience spans current affairs, lifestyle and politics. In 2009, she co produced a segment on the Iraq Inquiry for the BBC World service while interning at the World Today program. Other publications she has contributed to include: The Telegraph (fashion section), Top Sante magazine (health news), Ole Magazine, Hello Magazine (fashion section), BOE Magazine (food). She has written extensively on the Madives, Vancouver and India for both print and online, including The Hindu (food and travel) and MAT in flight magazine.
Before embarking on a career in journalism she worked in some of the World's Leading Hotels in India and the Maldives.
She is a travel enthusiast known for her varied taste in destinations and often spur of the moment spontaneous trips. She enjoys sailing, diving and taking beach holidays. When not working or traveling, she can be found concocting new dessert and cake recipes in her kitchen or sketching show designs for what she hopes may one day be her own line of footwear.
