Former NFL player Kwame Harris inadvertently has been outed after he and an ex-boyfriend got into a fist fight over soy sauce.
Former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris was arrested at a restaurant in Menlo Park, California back in late August 2012 after allegedly assaulting his ex-boyfriend. Harris has been charged with felony abuse stemming from the incident this week and pleaded not guilty.
Details are still emerging but Harris and Dimitri Geier allegedly stopped to eat on the way to the airport where Harris was dropping Geier off when the fisticuffs occurred. Geier apparently poured soy sauce on a plate of rice and angered Harris, with an argument erupting that resulted in Harris vowing not to take Geier to the airport after all.
He then began throwing Geier's belongings out of his car and pulled down his pants, claiming that Geier had stolen his underwear. Their versions differ as to who struck who first when a fight erupted but Geier ended up in the hospital with broken orbital bones in his face.
The two had previously been in a relationship but had broken up at the time of the incident. Geier sued Harris in October in San Mateo County seeking unspecified damages, with details just now emerging and a trial set for April.
Harris was a first round draft pick in 2003 but never quite lived up to that potential, playing for the 49ers and the Raiders before retiring in 2008.
