Casinos aren't always known for charitable acts but many across the US are pitching in for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Casinos across the US are "going pink" for the worthy cause of breast cancer awareness, running various initiatives and promotions to raise money in support of charities such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Stations Casinos is bringing back its "Project Pink" drive, which donates a portion of food sales in selected restaurants as well as a slice of profits from designated blackjack tables.
The Stations Casinos group includes popular stops in Nevada such as Aliante Station, Boulder Station, Green Valley Ranch, Palace Station, and Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station, and Texas Station.
Station's Project Pink drive in 2011 raised more than $50,000 for local charities.
Hard Rock Hotel is also pitching in, donating a percentage of sales at its Pink Taco, 35 Steaks + Martini, and Love Jones locations to Susan G. Komen 3-Day, a charity walk dedicated to finding a breast cancer cure.
It's not just casinos in Nevada showing their support, as other casinos such as the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland are rolling out similar promotions, with special pink blackjack tables raising money for local charities.
Casinos have been known to share some of their profits on an ongoing basis; Harrah's, Boyd Gaming, and Ameristar are consistently among the top ten corporate donors to the United Way of Southern Nevada
Casino executives and owners have also been generous with their private wealth in the past with Steve Wynn and other well-known casino moguls donating tens of millions of dollars to charities of their choice.
