The high profile breakup of Seal and Heidi Klum has taken a decided turn to the ugly side.
The two announced they were splitting up in January with Klum filing divorce papers in April. The initial split seemed amicable enough but Seal's recent comments to TMZ -- which published photos of Klum being cozy with one of her bodyguards -- were anything but cordial.
"I would have preferred Heidi show a little bit more class and at least wait until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help," Seal told TMZ of Klum's purported romance with a bodyguard.
To give Seal a little credit, he did go on to slightly soften his stance: "That’s what happens when two people separate, they move on and that generally mean other people in their lives. I don’t necessarily expect Heidi to all of a sudden become a nun… as always, my main priority is the emotional well-being of our children."
The couple began dating in 2004 and were married in 2005, making a point to renew their vows each and every year. in 2009 Klum adoped Seal's surname, becoming Heidi Samuel; Seal's full legal name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel.
The couple had three children together in addition to Klum's daughter Helene, who she was pregnant with when the two met. Custody of the children remain a major issue in their pending divorce, as well Klum's estimated net worth of $70 million.
2012 has had its share of other high-profile break ups and divorces for celebs, with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes calling it quits as well as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart going their separate ways.
While things may have turned slightly nasty with Seal and Klum, they still have miles to go to eclipse some of the all-tim acrimonious divorces such as Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards and Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.
