Justin Bieber is starting 2013 right where he ended 2012: all over the news.
2012 was a year of ups for the Biebes (including a new hit album and successful concert tour) as well as his fair share of downs such as a high profile split and later reunion with his girlfriend and a castration-murder plot that was ultimately foiled.
Bieber made waves in 2013 by hitting the beach and showing off his newest ink, a very large tattoo of Jesus on his leg. Like his previous tattoos -- which include an owl, a crown, and Japanese symbols -- he took to Instagram and Twitter to show off his latest tat to his legions of fans.
The latest Bieber-related headlines are of a sad nature, unfortunately, as a photographer was killed while chasing after Bieber's Ferrari on Sepulveda Blvd. Bieber wasn't actually driving but he's been outspoken in the wake of the incident as far as calling for more laws to rein in overaggressive paparazzi.
Bieber's friend Lil Twist was reportedly driving the Ferrari when he was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol for a traffic stop. The photographer arrived at the scene and crossed Sepulveda to take photos, then struck by a car and killed as he crossed back over the street to his car.
“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders and the photographers themselves,” he said in a statement.
Bieber has had several run-ins with photographers, including an incident in November when he was pursued in the same Ferrari and a previous incident when he was pulled over by police for speeding in his Fisker sports car and claimed it was only to escape paparazzi.
A court case related to a photographer being charged for chasing Bieber under California's new anti-paparazzi law was thrown out in 2012 when the judge ruled that the law was too broad and could infringe on 1st Amendment protections.
